Melanie Howe is a representational oil painter based in Long Island, New York. She started her art education in 2015. In 2017 She was admitted into the Atelier at Flowerfeild's Fellowship Program where she studied primarily under artist Kevin McEvoy, as well as artists Bill Graff and Megan K. Euell. While there she received classical training in Oil painting, Portraiture, Figure Drawing, and Anatomy. She continued her studies there until winter of 2019.
Melanie often draws inspiration from artists of the Renaissance all the way to the Naturalist movement, infusing contemporary style with her own classical training. She is often studying the works of John Singer Sargent, Rembrandt, Cecelia Beaux, Charles Bargue, and Andrew Wyeth amongst others. Her goal is to evoke a feeling in her viewers and bring joy to the world through her art.
